• The adjective gross never takes umlauts
  
• Watch how you write dates: you cannot say "am December 2" ; check the dates on the assignments page for lots of examples, or check Chapter 11, Section C in your textbook.
  
• If you are a twin with someone, be sure you don't say "Er ist meine Zwillinge." (He is my twins.) You'd have to say "Sam ist my brother. We are twins."

  • Correct: Ich hasse Country Musik.
    Incorrect: Ich hasse Country Musik hören.
    

• Remember that the verb sein never takes anything but nominative
  
• If you want to say one city is x number of kilometers from another city, check Chapter 5, Section C to review how to say "far from" (you will not use "aus")
  
• If you are talking about the popularion of a city, don't use the word "people", use the word for "inhabitants"
  
• Don't use "jobben" as a noun! You cannot say "Ich mag meinen Jobbe." That is like saying "I like my to work."
  
• Prima & toll are not capitalized unless they are the first word in a sentence.
  
• Check the singular and plural form of the noun "brother."
  
• Don't misspell Weihnachten!
  
• You must use dative case when you list the gifts you are buying for various people - if you don't you will lose major points! Don't use the construction "ich kaufe einen Kuli für…."
  
• No english words (i.e. Classical Musik)
• If you are talking about how something tastes, be sure you know whether your verb is singular or plural! For example:

  • Plural: Tomaten schmecken nicht gut.
    Singular: Joghurt schmeckt nicht gut.

• Eltern, Geschwister, Grosseltern are all plural: you have to say "My parents are..." , not "My parents is..."
  
• Several of you want to say what you are giving a member of your family for Christmas or for their birthday. German does not use the word für to express this. Use the following phrases:
  
  • Zu Weihnachten
  • Zum Geburtstag
