How much does it cost to travel to Germany with German Club? Although the prices for the trip in the year 2000 will not be set until the fall of 1999, looking at the prices for our 1997 trip will give you some idea of what to expect.

German Club Trip to Germany: Cost Summary for 1997 

Down Payment: $395 A down payment to reserve your spot on the trip will be due in the fall prior to the trip. The figure listed above includes a program deposit of $300 and a non-refundable NETC membership of $95. (NETC is the name of the country that arranged our tour in 1997.)

Cancellation Insurance (Optional): $100 In 1997, approximately half of the students purchased this insurance; the other half did not.

NETC Program Fee: $1799 This figure includes round-trip airfare from Omaha; hotel accomodations with private bathrooms; continental breakfast and dinner every day; ground transportation for organized activities; most entrance fees; and tour leader services throughout the tour.

Airline Charges: $99 Security fee, U.S. Departure tax, Custom Hall fee, weekend flight surcharge

Passport: $65 Passport costs include a passport application fee of $40 ($65 if you are 18 or older), plus the cost of having passport photos taken.

Customary Tips: $45 It is customary to give the NETC Tour Guide and our long-distance bus driver each a tip at the end of the tour. This money will be collected before leaving the United States.

Individual Spending Money: $400 This is the minimum recommended amount. Active German Club members may receive a small stipend upon return to the United States if they have followed all program guidelines. The actual amount of the stipend will depend on the number of students traveling. Students traveling in 1997 received the following benefits from German Club: a travel journal, DM20 cash prior to departure, a ticket for a performance at the National Theater in Munich, and $108.
