HOW TO TYPE UMLAUTS:

Check to make sure that NUM LOCK is "on." The NUM LOCK key is usually on the upper row of the numeric key pad. Once NUM LOCK is on, you can type in umlauts by using the following key combinations:

ä - hold down the "alt" key & press 0228 on the numeric key pad

ü - hold down the "alt" key & press 0252 on the numeric key pad

ö - hold down the "alt" key & press 0246 on the numeric key pad

Ä - hold down the "alt" key & press 0196 on the numeric key pad

Ö - hold down the "alt" key & press 0214 on the numeric key pad

Ü - hold down the "alt" key & press 0220 on the numeric key pad
