FREE & CHEAP WAYS TO CREATE A CLASS PAGE


eBoard is a subscription service that allows you to create a "virtual" corkboard where you can post assignments, messages and photos online.

EduHound HotList: FREE! Create your own page of educational web links.

Homework Hero: Provides a forum for easy posting and viewing of homework assignments on the Web. There is a modest annual subscription fee.

MatMice: Free Pages for Kids - Created by three teenage sisters from Australia, this website gives kids the chance to make their very own homepage on the web - and it's free!

MySchoolOnline: A subscription service that offers websites for teachers with features such as homework assignments, student showcase, class newsletter, calendar, and link page. You can set up student teams to be responsible for selected pages at your site, if you wish. Visit Mrs. Hammersly's 4th grade site to see what a site can look like!

Nicenet offers a variety of functions, including a conferencing system that is similar to a message board. Teachers can post a topic for discussion each week and students can post reactions, opinions, and suggestions. They can respond to each other's postings and send each other e-mail messages within the Nicenet system. Students can also post compositions for peer editing through the "documents" function, share their favorite Internet links on a given topic, and keep up on assignments/projects posted by the teacher. This is a free service.

Quia! is a subscription service that allows you to create games, quizzes and surveys on the Internet and share them with others. You can also give online quizzes and track students' scores. And you can create your own home pages for posting assignments, class schedules and calendars, and links to your favorite Web sites. Free 30-day trial available.

Schoolnotes.com provides a website where teachers can post announcements and class assignments -- free of charge. Students can also e-mail you from the Schoolnotes site, but your e-mail address does not show, and is not revealed to the student. You can now post digital flashcards for your students at the Schoolnotes site as well.

TeacherWeb provides easy-to-update websites for teachers. Simply type in updates while viewing your website! There is a modest annual subscription fee for this service.

Yahoo!Groups provides free tools to help you post class information on-line. Services for teachers include integrated email list hosting, shared calendars with automatic email reminders, customizable database for contact lists, homework assignments.
