Title:  Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educator

Email:  lrichardson@esu5.org

ESU 5 Office:  (402) 223-5277

I am Lisa Richardson, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educator for the Educational Service Unit (ESU) No. 5. I am starting my tenth year of employment with the ESU 5 and my twenty-second year of teaching. My first master’s degree is in speech language pathology from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas. In July 2018, I completed my second master’s degree (deaf and hard of hearing) through the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  During my years as a speech language pathologist, I have worked with individuals of all ages who have had a combination of hearing, language, and speech related concerns at the rehabilitation, private practice, nursing home, home health, and school settings. The opportunity to learn more about hearing loss and how it impacts education has been very valuable to me. I will continue to learn so I can provide the best communication accessibility for my students.

On a more personal note, I live in Chester, have been married for 21 years, and have two teenage daughters.  I enjoy going to their sporting events and helping with their 4-H projects.  My hobbies include sewing, cooking, reading, golfing, and bicycling. Originally, I grew up in Belleville, Kansas; so I am learning more about Nebraska every year that I teach.  My personal goal is to be a lifelong learner.  My job as the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educator will help me to do just that.
