FIVE Academy

FIVE Academy is a full-day (9:00 am to 2:00 pm) program in a community college setting that provides transition opportunities for young adults with IEPs  who need assistance in acquiring both life and job skills.

This highly supportive & engaging environment can be designed to meet each student’s individual needs in the areas of:

  • Functional Academic Activities (embedded reading and math instruction)
  • Independent Living Skills Activities
  • Pre-vocational Training Activities
  • Students receive their credit from Home School District

Students attending FIVE Academy engage in first-hand experiences to teach pre-vocational skills that they need to successfully secure and maintain employment.

The program involves a transition teacher and skills trainer to assist the students in completing their assigned tasks and accompany them on their job sites and during classroom instruction.

I am so grateful that the ESU had so many specialists to work with my son, because now I know what to do to help my child with autism. The speech pathologist and occupational therapist from the ESU have allowed him to gain more than I ever expected him to. I don’t know what I would have done without them.
