Audience: Resource teachers, General education teachers, Preschool teachers, SLPs, OTs, and School Psychologists who are currently working with a student identified with autism. This model works best when used as a collaborative tool between disciplines. It is highly recommended participants attend as a school team so all members can be trained.
Description: In this workshop participants will learn how to create a thorough and effective intervention plan for a student with autism. The Ziggurat model emphasizes a proactive, positive approach to meeting the needs of the student. This model helps address underlying characteristics of autism which result in social, emotional, and behavioral concerns for the student. The focus of the Ziggurat model includes:
- Sensory and Biological Needs
- Reinforcement
- Structure and Visual Supports
- Task Demands
- Skills to Teach
Participants of the workshop will receive a copy of The Ziggurat Model book and protocols to help support implementation.
Fee: No cost, but due to materials the workshop will be limited to 20
