EKCO Project provides opportunities for CTE Teachers

In September the EKCO Project was fortunate enough to be able to offer a Briggs & Stratton small engines class for CTE teachers in our area.

The training was hosted at Fairbury High School in their beautiful, new automotive shop.  It was three days of in depth course work to set teachers up for success with the implementation of high quality small engines courses in their districts.

Along with paying for the training, Annette Weise (grant manager) was able to use consortium Perkins funds to purchase engines, stands, tools, and demonstration equipment for the districts that attended the workshop. This workshop had the added bonus of allowing teachers to get to know each other well so they can now network and bounce ideas around that they can use in their classrooms and shops.

To help with continuing education opportunities for CTE teachers in our area, the ESU is currently in negotiations to offer the Advanced small engine training this coming summer.

This would be a week-long training allowing teachers to offer a more in depth small engines class for students who are interested in that career pathway.

I am so grateful that the ESU had so many specialists to work with my son, because now I know what to do to help my child with autism. The speech pathologist and occupational therapist from the ESU have allowed him to gain more than I ever expected him to. I don’t know what I would have done without them.
