Educational Service Unit 5, located in Beatrice, NE is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, Business/Human Resource Manager to oversee the Unit’s financial operations ensuring strong fiscal management, transparency, and compliance across all ESU 5 programs.
Ideally, this position will be shared between two individuals, dependent on applicant expertise and interests.
Immediate start preferred, but will work within a reasonably agreed-upon transition period that supports a smooth shift between the candidate’s current employer and ESU 5. Candidate will assume full responsibilities following the current Business Manager’s anticipated retirement in July 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all financial operations including budgeting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records in compliance with Nebraska Department of Education requirements, state and federal regulations, and auditing standards.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, board reports, budget projections, and other required fiscal documents.
- Oversee purchasing, bidding procedures, vendor contracts, and cost-allocation processes.
- Coordinate employee benefits and assist with human resources, insurance programs, and compliance-related documentation.
- Monitor grant expenditures and support grant reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the Administrator, independent auditors, staff, and the ESU 5 Board.
Qualifications
- Previous school finance, or public accounting experience preferred.
- Preferred but not required, degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- Knowledge of school budgeting practices, accounting software systems, and financial reporting methods.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, internal controls, and ethical financial practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
