Early Childhood Literacy Coach

Educational Service Unit 5, located in Beatrice, Nebraska, is seeking an Early Childhood Literacy Coach to support young learners, their families and early childhood teams across participating school districts. This position blends coaching, and collaboration to strengthen early literacy outcomes and inclusive practices for children ages birth–five.

The position will begin in August of 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support early literacy development through coaching, modeling, and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Provide early childhood special education services in alignment with students’ Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to design and implement developmentally appropriate interventions.
  • Coach and support early childhood educators in literacy instruction, assessment, and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Assist districts with early literacy screening, progress monitoring, and data-informed instructional decision-making.
  • Participate in IFSP/IEP meetings, team consultations, and professional learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with state and federal early childhood and special education requirements.
  • Support alignment with Nebraska Department of Education initiatives, Rule 51/Rule 52, and ESU 5 program priorities.
  • Serve multiple school and early learning sites as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with Early Childhood Special Education endorsement required.
  • Background or endorsement in early literacy, reading instruction, or related coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children birth–five in early childhood or preschool settings.
  • Knowledge of special education processes, IFSPs/IEPs, and early literacy frameworks.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive, service-oriented team.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and family-centered services.
